Road Trip: From San Diego to Nashville

Day 6 – The End of our Journey

The next morning we had one last breakfast at Waffle House. Even that was eventful since on the way out we met a very boisterous middle-aged man who wanted to tell us all about his music and his rap CD. He was “The 60-Year Old Rapper with a Bad Knee” and he gave us a CD and told us we would love him. We popped it in the CD player as we took off toward Nashville and had a good laugh. So much so that I insisted we should write to his AOL email address listed in the CD insert…although we never did.

The last leg of the trip was a straight shot up to my parents house in Franklin, TN. I think we were both happy to arrive and sleep in a clean and comfortable place with a nice homemade meal. Before Acacia flew back to San Diego we had a couple days to see Franklin and Nashville and I tried to give her a good taste of everything. We wandered around cute, historic Franklin and then spent a morning bar hopping in Nashville which has a constant stream of live musicians in all the bars no matter the day or time. We grabbed some coffee in to go cups and ordered a shot of Bailey’s to spike it and had ourselves a nice little morning. Other than the little bit of site seeing we were both happy to relax and get lots of sleep. It was also really nice to have my parents finally meet such a good friend of mine.

Suddenly the trip was over and I was dropping Acacia off at the airport. With all the back and forth I’ve been doing it just felt like we were saying goodbye again for a few months. Ultimately that’s not the truth since I don’t know when I’ll be returning to visit California. Until then I am so grateful that this awesome adventure was how we were spend some time together before my big move.
