Too Much Sugar

I didn’t know it was possible but I think I’m all sugared out! On Saturday at the coast we had some ice cream. Sunday I treated myself to a dessert after my lunch. Monday at work my boss took me to lunch at a restaurant called As and we ordered dessert at the end. After work she took me grocery shopping and insisted on buying me a bottle of wine and 3 chocolate bars. I kept trying to explain to her that I can’t have that much chocolate in my apartment at one time. Even so, I got home and discover FOUR bars in my grocery bag. Then on day two of work she took me to the farmer’s market (which will get a post of its own when I return there this Saturday), afterward she suggested we get a coffee and took me to this amazing little bakery called Lolita’s. At this point even though the desserts were impressive (pictured above) I was close to reaching capacity and I knew this because I really could have declined and been ok with it. But, not wanting to be rude 😉 I accepted and had a creme brulee.

What did all of this bring me? Well, either I’m still jet lagged or I’m having a constant sugar hangover. I’m pretty sure it’s the latter since I’ve felt it before. Waking up in the mornings barely able to open my eyes and just completely exhausted. Of course this couldn’t have gone any other way. I knew once I got here I would overindulge for a bit and then normalize again. I’m ready to get to that farmer’s market to buy some fresh veggies, meat, fish and eggs and start cooking my own meals again!

As I write this a co-worker just came and put a Snickers bar on my desk.

Chocolate Pear Torte

My chocolate pear torte from Marley and Me

Salad with squid and shrimp

At least I ate something healthy first. Salad with grilled squid and shrimp from my lunch at As.

Panacotta with Plum Sauce

I chose the Panacotta with plum sauce and my boss had some sort of cheesecake with fresh strawberries. Both were heavenly.
